Liberalism vs Conservatism

Yanked directly from a friend’s Facebook comment thread today:

Ambulance Driver: “Maybe not all liberalism is radical. But there seems to be a fundamental tenet of liberalism in that its adherents seem to see mankind as they wish it to be, not as it is, and they think the government is the way to shape reality to fit their ideal.”

JB On the Rocks: “Certainly. And there’s a large group of Conservatives that have the same fundamental belief, if one simply changes “Government” to “church.””

AD: “Um… touché.”

JB: “Or, as I heard it so neatly put: ‘Government should stay away from my wallet and my bedroom.’ Can’t remember who said it, though… ;)”

If memory serves, I’m the one who said it, but I doubt I was the first.
