A Conference Renaissance

Just got back from the CT EMS Expo at the Mohegan Sun Resort yesterday, and wanted to give a public shout-out to the people who organized it.

This conference was truly top notch. The venue, the staff, the events and entertainment, the speakers, and the level of organization was superb. It was a refreshing change from previous years, and I think the increased attendance this year demonstrates that you have begun a renaissance of your conference. Here’s hoping for an even better one next year.

It’s also obvious that you put some effort into digital support for the conference. The electronic scanning of attendee badges was a nice touch, and I like the fact that you had a smartphone conference app, something you don’t see at many conferences outside large national events like EMS World Expo or EMS Today.

Audiovisual support was excellent, so much so that I was able to get extra microphones and sound recording equipment for an unscheduled podcast recording on barely 8 hours notice. I’ve been to larger conferences where I couldn’t even get the AV support I was promised, months ahead of time.

One thing that might be nice to add is a means to upload lecture handouts and speaker contact info to the cloud, so that attendees can download the notes from the lectures they attended.

So again, kudos to the conference committee and all volunteers and support staff responsible for putting on a great conference. If you’re a national conference speaker, I urge you to keep the CT EMS Expo on your radar for future submissions. You won’t be disappointed.
