A Good Day

Took advantage of the wonderful weather today to take a drive to the coast. The wildlife refuge in Cameron was teeming with birds. In one short drive, I saw snow geese, specklebelly geese, pintails, gadwalls, blue-winged teal, shovelers, coots, rails, gallinules, snipe, roseate spoonbills, snowy egrets, great blue herons, brown and white pelicans, gulls, terns, and ibis.

Roseate spoonbills.

Roseate spoonbills.

At 75 degrees, even the alligators were out sunning themselves.

The guys surf-casting at Holly Beach were catching some huge redfish.

That's a 48-quart ice chest. Maybe a 35-40 lb. redfish?

Got to take a long walk with the girlfriend, take KatyBeth collecting seashells, and let Shine romp on the beach. It was a much-needed afternoon outside.

Like I said, a good day.
