Connecticut EMS Expo

Mohegan Lobby

Just got back from the CT EMS Expo, which is an excellent example of the Ray Kinsella Effect: build it and they will come.

I lectured at this conference for several years, when it was hosted in Cromwell. The participants were nice, great folks to hang around with, as are most participants at EMS conferences. But the venue and conference planning left much to be desired. Attendance languished, and some of the speakers had a less-than-pleasant experience.

Last year, a new group began planning and organizing this conference. They booked the Mohegan Sun Resort and Casino as a venue, hired a great lineup of speakers and treated them very well, and the conference was a rousing success. They had the best attendance ever.

Nice view, eh?

This year, they broke that record, and boasted an excellent exhibit hall and another stellar lineup of local and nationally-known speakers.

Both my lectures were very well-received, and the participants were engaged and asked great questions.

Fifteen minutes from go-time, right before they moved me to a bigger room because we ran out of seats.

The cast from Nightwatch was on hand, and obligingly signed oodles of autographs and posed for bunches of pictures, and were generally excellent ambassadors for EMS and my home state.

If you’re an EMS professional from Connecticut or any of the surrounding states, you should attend this conference if you can, and if you’re a speaker/presenter, you should consider bringing your talents here.

They’ll treat you well.
