2nd Amendment

Checked In

Press pass in hand, route through the exhibit hall planned, caffeinated and fed, and soon to be posting stuff from the exhibit hall floor. Follow my Twitter feed (@AmboDriver) and look for the hashtag #NRAAM. Until then, here’s a pic of new friend and shooter Amy. Much ammo was turned into fun, smoke and noise yesterday.

NRA Annual Meeting

I’m here, safely ensconced in our hotel room in Nashville with EMS Artifact. I’m thinking we’ll go pick up our press passes, and then there will be shooting, beer and barbecue this afternoon, although not necessarily in that order. Pics to follow, and regular updates will be posted from the press office. Stay tuned, but until then, here’s a funny:

Blogorado 2014 Wrapup (With Pics!)

Last weekend, I trekked forth to Secret Location, CO for my annual stress relief and psychological battery-recharging called Blogorado. Nothing eases my burdens quite so well as hanging out with my gunnie tribe, turning expensive ammunition into smoke and noise, eating great food and drinking even better beer, and telling outrageous truths and plausible lies around a crackling fire at ...

Inside EMS: Should EMS Personnel Be Armed?

For you EMS types, co-host Chris Cebollero and I revisit a hot topic in EMS, namely, whether ambulance crews should be allowed to carry concealed (or unconcealed) firearms. The topic always generates a great deal of heated debate from both sides, and it was brought back into the public’s eye with the recent thwarted mass-shooting at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital near ...

NRA Annual Meeting: Day One

Alternate title: These dogs are barkin’. Walked myself footsore yesterday, and still only visited half the booths. Initial impression: show was well attended, although I don’t have official numbers as of yet. It wasn’t as crowded as Houston last year or St. Louis the year before that, but the exhibit hall was bigger and with more vendors, so we weren’t ...

Leaving On a Jet Plane

Headed out for a few days to the NRA Annual Meeting in Hoosierville. I’ll be blogging about the show, posting a few gun reviews that have been in the hopper for awhile, and posting on Facebook and Twitter about it. Y’all watch the place for me, and don’t touch my beer. I left the guard girlfriend behind, and she knows ...

New Shooters!

Took colleague DeAnna and her 16-year-old daughter Dakota to the range today to try out the Hi Point 9mm carbine I'm reviewing. Both are avid bowhunters, but have never handled a firearm. DeAnna owns a Ruger LCP, which she has only fired twice because she found the recoil unpleasant. After a little instruction, she was fine: I started both mother ...

Winning

On Kevin, MD today, Julia Frank, MD demonstrates that being delusional is apparently no barrier to practicing psychiatry. She writes about the Washington Navy Yard shooting, and even manages to do some shilling for ObamaCare in the process: Perhaps because he did not have an assault rifle, the death toll was much less than it might have been. But my ...

A Little Experimenting…

… with my new iVue video camera glasses before I give them a serious workout next month at Blogorado. httpv://youtu.be/55CTeOYKQN4   That's my Rock Island 1911 an indoor range at 21 feet. As you can see, I'm pushing them a wee bit left today. Looks like the camera's focal point is a bit higher than where I'm actually looking, too.

I Am TJIC

Some of you may have heard of Travis Corcoran, the blogger who, under his internet handle TJIC, had his Second Amendment rights revoked for daring to exercise his First Amendment rights. After more than two years of legal battling, Travis had his Massachussetts FID reissued, and has re-applied for his Massachussetts LTC. No word on whether the po-po ever returned ...

Shoot. Shoot Until Slide Lock.

And then reload and be ready to shoot again. For those of you who think violence is never the answer, and possessions aren’t worth your life, go check out this video Tim posted on Gun Nuts. Here’s the problem with capitulation and non-escalation: the criminal is the one who gets to decide how far it goes. The criminal is the ...
