Amanda’s Angels

Read about Amanda Bernier, an volunteer firefighter and EMT from Madison, CT diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Amanda and her husband Chris are volunteers at North Madison Volunteer Fire Company.  Amanda was diagnosed just a few days after the joyous news that she and Chris were pregnant with their first child. In a cruel twist, Amanda was told that she has the most aggressive form of the disease.

It’s going to kill her, and her pregnancy is only going to accelerate her deterioration. But she and Chris hope to make it through her pregnancy in the hopes that she will have at least a little time with the child they’re bringing into their world.

This is financially devastating for them. They need help, even with insurance. Be it cash for future medical bills, a wheelchair van for Amanda, or service in kind to help prepare their home for a new child and a bedbound mother, they need it.
