For You EMS Types…

Co-host Chris Cebollero and I cover the latest EMS news and events, and go to war over helicopter vs ground-based EMS before we welcome Ben Chlapek to the Guest Table. Ben is a paramedic, fire chief and retired Lt. Colonel in the US Army, and has been doing great work supporting our veterans by lobbying our lawmakers for streamlining and simplifying entry requirements for military medics wanting to transition to careers in civilian EMS. EMS needs more of these guys, and anything we can do to make the transition easier, I fully support.

Give us a listen, and tell us what you think. Is helicopter transport over-utilized in EMS, and why? What steps would you recommend to ensure that we call for the bird only when necessary, and no longer have to hear those all-too-frequent stories of an EMS helicopter crew dying in another crash?
