Girsan MC1911SC Ultimate 2000 Round Challenge: Almost Halfway There

I took a break from submitting college homework, conference proposals and article submissions today for a little Me Time. Just a short session at the range, total of 120 rounds fired. I worked on half of each box of ammo was spent shooting weak hand-only.

In other news, I need to practice more on WHO shooting. I sucked.

First up was 20 rounds of Magtech First Defense 92.6gr JHP, listed at a brisk 1330 fps. Recoil was decidedly mild and it grouped well (except for the loose nut behind the trigger), but the Girsan did not much care for the light Magtech ammo. I had two failures to eject; Round #4 out of magazine #8, 774th round overall, and round #8 out of magazine #1, 778th overall.

One of two stovepipes on the day with this ammo, out of 20 rounds overall. Magtech First Defense, 92.6gr JHP

Next up was 50 rounds of Winchester White Box, 124gr FMJ. There was one failure to go completely back into battery on round #27, 797th overall.

Rounding out the day was 50 rounds of Remington UMC 147gr FMJ, listed at 990 fps. There were no failures to report.

As always, thank you to European American Armory and Lucky Gunner for their support.

For those keeping score at home, that’s a total of 890 rounds fired, with five failures to eject and three failures to fire. 1,110 rounds to go.
