Good Advice

Once upon a time many years ago, I was privileged to attend a lecture about fever during my initial PEP (before it became the current course known as PEPP) instructor course. It was long enough ago that our instructor materials were given to us on 3.5 inch floppy disks.

The title of the lecture was “Fever Is Your Friend.” It directly contradicted some of what I had been taught in paramedic school, and gave me much better insight on dealing with pediatric fevers, both as a parent and as a paramedic.

Today on the Kevin, MD blog, Dr. Melissa Arca posted a similarly useful guide to pediatric fevers:

Five Truths About Fevers In Children

It’s good advice. Pass it on to the mommies and daddies you know, particularly the new ones.
