In this week’s episode of Inside EMS, co-host Chris Cebollero invite noted EMS physician, author and medical director Bryan Bledsoe to the show, where we discuss what I wrote about here, ie how strictly EMS protocols should be followed.
Chris favors a very narrow view on protocol deviations, whereas Bryan and I both view protocols as guidelines, and believe paramedics should be given broad discretion in providing treatment not specifically mentioned in protocols, provided it is medically appropriate.
