Kilted to Kick Cancer 2014 Is Just Around The Corner!

Are you ready?

We’ve raised over $50,000 in just 90 days over the past three years, and it’s just going to get bigger, and be a year-round thing from now on.

Why, do you ask?

Because Kilted to Kick Cancer is now a registered 501(c)3 charity! That’s right, what you helped start as a grassroots fundraising and awareness campaign has now become a tax-deductible charity in its own right!

Now, how does this affect the KTKC Fundraising Challenge? Short answer: it doesn’t. We’re still soliciting Kilted fundraisers to participate in our challenge, beginning at 0001 hours on September 1, and ending at midnight, September 30. The top three (hopefully four) fundraisers will receive their choice of prizes consisting of guns and outdoor gear.

We’re still working on soliciting those prizes, but we will be posting some updates within the coming two weeks. The only new wrinkle is, to be eligible for one of our prize packages, the funds have to come straight to the KTKC charity.

That’s not us, that’s the IRS.

To disburse prizes donated on behalf of KTKC, we can only do that for funds donated to KTKC, not for other charitable entities.

Of course, you’re still free to solicit donations for Prostate Cancer Foundation, LiveStrong, or Blue Cure – and they’re all worthy entities – but we can only reward prize packages for money that went to us.

A donate button with tracking mechanism will be up on the KTKC website soon. We’re still formulating how we’ll disburse the donations we collect, but I can guarantee you this: it will be sent to where it will do the most good, with extremely low administrative overhead.

Myself, Happy Medic, Mrs. Happy Medic, and Motorcop are the board members, and none of us receives a salary. Our board meetings are done via conference call, and virtually everything we’ve done was funded out-of-pocket or through donated time and services.

We’re cheapskates, and we kinda like the idea of the vast majority of donated dollars going for their intended purpose – cancer research, education and awareness.

So get your kilt pressed, stay tuned to this page and the KTKC website, and get ready to blow up this fundraising challenge!
