In Defense of Freedom


Mule Breath, my favorite curmudgeonly liberal, and I were discussing a potential writing project this evening.

No teasers right now as to what it might be, except to say that it would involve bloggers you know from across the political spectrum, and most likely be something we’d shop for publication rather than post on our blogs.

But in that same vein, Rogue Medic devotes a post of his own, commenting on the latest of Mule Breath’s In Defense Of Freedom series, and makes the point that nanny-staters are to be found on both ends of the political spectrum. An excerpt:

Liberals and conservatives are dishonest about their main enemy.

Their enemy is the individual.

The individual, who thinks differently from the collective.

Both will punish that individual…

When you make the decision that any one life is too much to lose, you endanger all life.

Without risk, there is no progress.

Without risk, America is just another country.
