I was intrigued by the custom 1911 grips by Rimfire Designs donated to Jay's fundraising campaign for Kilted to Kick Cancer, so I emailed owner Mark and commissioned a set of hand-carved paduak grips for my Hi Standard Crusader officer-length 1911. Not only did Mark carve me a set of sweet-looking grips in time for Blogorado, he sent me two sets.
He did a pair with an EMS Star of Life carved into them, but wasn't satisfied with the stippling, so he carved another set sans stippling, and sent them both. Personally, I like the look and feel of the stippling, and can't wait to see what they look like on the pistol, currently undergoing a wholesale sexy makeover by my gunsmith buddy Joe Speer.
Give it another month or so, and I'll have a finished pistol with these grips to show off.
Check our Rimfire Design's selection here, and if you don't see what you want, contact Mark and he can probably hook you up.
I give these Two Thumbs Up!
